Coding Specialist-Remote

We are currently seeking a CPC Coder who is responsible for reviewing and accurately coding office and ASC medical records using CPT, ICD, and HCPCS, according to CPT coding guidelines and insurance policies.

Working under the guidance of the Coding Manager, this role will report directly to the coding manager.

• Ability to work in a fast pace high volume work environment while maintaining production and audit standards.
• Accurately review patient medical records and code according to CPT coding guidelines. Update accounts with the appropriate comments while making changes as necessary according to coding procedures.
• Ensure that codes are current and active.
• Report missing or incomplete documentation.
• Meet daily coding production.
• Performs accurate charge/code entries.
• Perform audits as requested and ensure proper coding on provider documentation.
• Serves as a resource regarding insurance resolutions and coding questions.
• Follows coding guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Accurately completes follow-up on assigned site coding visit owner.
• Maintain a high level of current knowledge of the various insurance carrier’s medical policies,
• Adhere to and uphold all applicable federal and state compliance regulations as well as NSPC’s Code of Conduct and Employee Handbook, compliance policies and procedures, and applicable healthcare fraud, waste and abuse laws.
• Performs additional duties assigned by Coding Manager as needed.

We require the following:

• High school degree or equivalent education and training.
• • Medical Coding Certificate; CPC by AAPC or AHIMA license; meet state licensure requirements.
  • Maintains coding certification and attends in-service training as required.
  • Preferred one year of coding experience.
  • Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
  • Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team.
  • Strong computer skills in data entry, coding, and knowledge of Electronic Medical Record software.
  • Accurate and precise attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Goal-oriented, organized team player.
  • Able to interpret Medicare, Medicaid, BC/BS, Workers Compensation, Manage Care and Commercial insurance carriers billing regulations
  • Strong organization, problem-solving and error detection skills
  • Basic knowledge of HIPAA privacy regulations
