POSITION Hours
2nd Shift (Mon - Thu, 3pm - 1:30am); Overtime on Friday as needed
POSITION SUMMARY
Set up and operate conventional and CNC machines in a given Value Stream.
POSITION DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Operate CNC equipment which includes setting tool off-sets and loading tools in the proper position in the carousel
  • Read and understand prints, die drawings, CTO-Pro View (Shop View), Manufacturing Data Package and other supporting documentation in determining the nature of the job to be performed
  • Send programs from PC to the CNC controller and download as needed
  • Set up machines, blocking, and guides, change jigs, drills, and dies on such equipment as required for department, error free and within documented tolerances
  • Select and perform second operations while the CNC is running. This includes, but is not limited to: installing weather-stripping, hardware, screwing or caulking on UIF's, etc.
  • Visually inspect condition of machine parts for tooling marks. Clean all parts prior to moving to proper staging area
  • Complete department documentation as required: including MES labor recording, CTO-Pro updates and proper tagging of completed parts and load tags
  • Comply with quality system requirements; including first piece inspection and reviewing the specification of the job while being compliant with all quality audit requirements
  • Notify department supervisor/lead of part shortages or similar problems relating to the production process
  • Operate saws, punch and drill presses, mills, and other equipment to machine parts according to part drawing requirements
  • Adhere to established safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for all associates
  • Adhere to established policies and standard operating procedures
  • Proficient use of computer systems and Intranet functions
  • Undertake job responsibilities in a manner consistent with the company's Core Values
  • Support lean and continuous improvement processes
  • May be required to perform other company duties as needed and assist in other departments as requested

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; 0-1 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SKILL and KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
  • Read and understand prints, die drawings and other supporting documentation.
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude with previous machining experience desired
  • Communicate effectively in a verbal and a written manner
Computer software proficiency in the following:
  • CTO-Pro View
  • Intranet
  • ERP software (Epicor/MES)
  • Work independently or as part of a team
  • Work quickly and accurately
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Regularly required to stand, reach, bend, talk, hear and move about the facility. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
The associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The associate is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

PPE (Safety glasses, Protective gloves, Safety Shoes, Single Use Ear Plugs), metal rack, anti-fatigue mat, CNC machine, step stool, chop saw.
