Job description

The Certified Nurses Aide acts as support staff to the Registered Nurse in charge assuring completion of all medical protocols according to Surfpoint's policy and procedure. The Nurses Aide assists in the delivery of substance abuse treatment by meeting the patient’s immediate needs for direction, information, motivation, guidance, nourishment, shelter, and safe escort outside the facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Conduct initial intake assessments for patients entering into the detox or rehabilitation program.

· Conduct sedative and opiate withdrawal assessments as directed by charge nurse every 4 hours.

· Communication regarding patient activity to the counseling and nursing staff.

· Aware of the chain of command and uses the available professional personnel for direction.

· Observe patients for behavior inconsistent with treatment goals.

· Write a Risk Management Report according to guidelines.

· Assure that patients adhere to program activity schedule.

· Escort the patient to destinations outside the facility.

· Transport the patients to units throughout the facility when needed.

· Make room checks on all patients.

· Record all room checks, arrivals, and departures from the facility on shift to shift report.

· Maintenance of population board updated each shift to include admissions and discharges.

· Clerical maintenance of patient’s medical record.

· Monitor linen supplies and replenish as needed each shift.

· Facilitate Morning Meeting and Step Groups.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· Certificate as a Nurse Aide in NY State

· High School Diploma

· Knowledge of Substance Abuse Treatment

· Computer skills are required
