About the Job...


JOB SUMMARY
: The Cloud Architect IV will serve a critical role within a technical team on a seven-year Federal project supporting the US Forest Service. This project will provide operations and maintenance for a critical business application suite which is used to manage wildland fire fighting situational awareness and resource decisions ranging from the national level down to incident coordination. The Cloud Architect IV will develop strategies for cloud adoption plans, cloud application design as well as cloud management and monitoring.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Systems Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline from an accredited college or university. Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Cloud Architect or similar type position.


SECURITY CLEARANCE: U.S. citizen; must be able to pass a National Agency Check for access to Federal IT systems. Active Secret or Top Secret clearance is a plus.


JOB TYPE:
Full Time; anticipated start date is June 1, 2023 contingent upon contract award. Project period of performance is up to seven years.


LOCATION:
Candidate must be located within commuting distance of Billings, Montana.


SALARY RANGE:
$140K to $160K, the estimated range represents the typical salary for the position commensurate with experience, knowledge and demonstrated success in the field and other factors.

The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs analysis, designs, and implements cloud solutions in Azure and / or AWS cloud environments.
  • Oversees and leads the architectural design, development, and customization.
  • Creates a well-informed cloud strategy and managing the adoption process.
  • Transforms legacy development platforms (.NET, CRM, ERP, Digital Platform tools, Data Warehouse, etc.) into a cloud-based architecture.
  • Serve as an Azure and / or AWS technical resource in team's efforts to determine the needs of our client's businesses that will simplify and automate the applications as well as make them more efficient.
  • Participate in planning, implementation, and growth of our customer's Azure and AWS foundational footprint.
  • Work closely with applications and database architects and engineers to recommend and design infrastructure, database, or data storage solutions that effectively reflect our client's business needs, security, and service level requirements.
  • Align solutions with standards and best practices working with cross-functional engineering and consulting teams.
  • Accountable for defining and driving software architecture and enterprise capabilities (scalability, reliability, extensibility, maintainability, etc.).
  • Establishes standards and best practices across multiple teams, applications, and environments and mentor team members in documented Cloud best practices and techniques.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • 10+ years’ experience as a Cloud Architect or similar type position.
  • Expert in design, development, and hands-on implementation of Azure and / or Amazon Web Services cloud solutions.
  • Experienced in risk analysis & creating mitigation strategies for continuous evaluation and validation of system design and architecture.
  • Proven ability to produce as-built documentation and materials.
  • Ability to design, build, and execute automation frameworks for deployment of Azure and AWS Cloud Environments.
  • Organized with attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as part of a hybrid in-person / distributed US-based team.
  • Cloud Security Certifications will set you apart (e.g., Microsoft Certified Azure Security Engineer Associate, AWS Certified Security, CompTIA Cloud+, GIAC Cloud Security Automation).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
