Western Healthcare Alliance (WHA) began in 1989 when a small group of rural Colorado hospitals decided that there was power in numbers. Today, WHA has 30 healthcare members in Colorado and Utah. About WHA’s Community Care Alliance (CCA)


In August 2013, WHA began a journey to examine trends regarding the transition from traditional fee-for-service cost-based reimbursement systems to value-based payment models. Value-based payment models reward healthcare providers for meeting predetermined performance measures related to quality, efficiency and total cost of care. For most healthcare providers, this meant a significant change in how they delivered care. As a result, WHA’s vision was to create an organization to bridge that transition and focus on three goals: to build a common supportive infrastructure, to learn and share best practices, and to enhance their ability to perform in a value-based environment.


In March 2015, WHA formed Community Care Alliance, LLC. The CCA is a rural value-based clinically integrated network that engages in value-based payment models that serves payer populations including Medicare, commercially insured, self-funded domestic (WHA member covered lives) and self-funded community employers. The CCA staff provides management and oversight of the contractual arrangements with payers and offers the following population health management support services to participants:

Position Summary

The Clinical Quality and Communications Coordinator will work closely with the CCA Administrative Director (AD), as a direct report, to orchestrate and execute the clinical quality strategy and communications of the Clinically Integrated Network (CIN) and subsequent value-based contracts. This role assumes strategic ownership and execution management focused on ensuring that the CIN is meeting its most important clinical quality and communication goals. Ensures planning and execution are driven in a coordinated, high-impact manner across all CIN programs and contracts. This position is responsible for building and operationalizing value-based quality initiatives and communication plans for the CIN including, but not limited to, leading clinical quality initiatives that substantially impact strategic goals, patient care & outcomes, clinician engagement & development, and new member communication. This role acts as a liaison across functional areas within the CIN and with external partners.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the AD and CCA leadership team to ensure that clinical quality goals and objectives are being achieved and that priorities are being communicated effectively.
  • Drive alignment around strategic initiatives, execution, and monitoring progress.
  • Preparing strategic quality updates to relevant boards and stakeholders.
  • Lead, manage, and coordinate the communication and implementation of strategic quality initiatives and value-based care onboarding.
  • Thought partner to AD and CCA leadership to provoke strategic thinking and prioritization, enhance execution, and monitor progress.
  • Connect regularly with the AD and CCA leadership team to identify problems or barriers requiring action and convene resources for resolution.
  • Serve as a first alert system keeping the AD aware of unanticipated problems or opportunities.
  • Identify and take on ad-hoc strategic projects. Including, but not limited to, defining new opportunities for executing key initiatives, closing gaps in clinical performance and operations, and initiating new member communication/onboarding.
  • Partner with WHA marketing and CIN partners to ensure communications to internal and external stakeholders are timely and complete.
  • Attend key clinical and strategic meetings to facilitate synergy, alignment, and best practice sharing.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in healthcare.
  • Experience with executing improvement in care delivery, population health, and/or clinical operations.
  • Ability to connect the dots and understand how to optimize system-level processes.
  • Curious, quick learner who is data and evidence driven.
  • Experience in managing change by leading and energizing others, modeling adaptability, and inspiring strong organizational performance through periods of transformation, ambiguity, and complexity.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills and proven ability to work collaboratively through various departments and functional areas, promoting a culture of proactive teamwork.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • The ability to clearly explain complex ideas and technologies to non-technical audiences.
  • Current driver’s license, willingness and ability to travel as needed, including some overnight stays.
