Since 1957, we’ve assisted a wide array of populations throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania, focusing on those generally underserved by traditional services including senior citizens, veterans, individuals with physical and/or intellectual disabilities, individuals on the autism spectrum, and youths who have aged out of foster care.

To further our mission we are looking for a Client Support Specialist.

Position Overview:

Serves as initial point of contact for the general public and tenants for vibrant property management division of large regional nonprofit. Provide support services to SHMS staff and clients by assisting with the facilitation of the eligibility determinations and the leasing process by entering applications of all eligible applicants onto the waiting lists.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage the front desk of the Supportive Housing Management Services East Pittsburgh office, to include answering phones, responding to general emails and voicemails, and welcoming guests into the office;
  • Maintain the property waiting lists. Complete data entry of applications, respond to inquiries from applicants, assist property managers in the processing of applications, purge waitlists;
  • Assist with scheduling of appointments for appeal hearings
  • Maintain file system including: retrieving and filing, copying, and faxing documents from files;
  • Collaborate with property managers in order to provide clients with a coordinated and responsive level of service;
  • Perform special projects and additional tasks as assigned by supervisor;
  • Serve as receptionist for all incoming phone calls and visitors
  • Serve as back up support to Work Order Coordinator to ensure requests are timely processed
  • Open and distribute all incoming mail
  • Maintain effective working relationship with residents, applicants, and other social service agencies.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of computer word processing, database, spreadsheets, and Yardi a plus.
