NorthPoint Development is seeking an experienced, hard-working Clean Energy Development Manager responsible for managing clean energy projects (rooftop solar, battery, EV charging, efficiency) throughout the project development life cycle to commercial operation. This employee will work with multiple project partners (internal & external), including customers, utilities, investors, contractor, and community stakeholders to deploy solutions at scale in our existing portfolio of 300 class-A industrial buildings across the US.

What You’ll Do

  • Responsible for the management of project development from site acquisition through to contracting, financing, engineering, construction, commissioning and handover to operations.

  • Manage roof acquisition efforts including site suitability, building owners and tenants and contract negotiation.

  • Conduct state, federal, and local permitting efforts and approval processes for projects.

  • Perform energy analysis, production/generation forecasting, project financial modeling and pro-forma options for financing

  • Manage projects through the interconnection process, working with engineers, contractors and consultants to optimize project designs.

  • Provide project due diligence and development recommendations, as needed.

  • Undertake critical reviews of third-party reports.

  • Build strong working relationships both internally and externally.

  • Effectively manage sub-contractors to ensure on time and on budget deliverables.

  • Create, optimize and own development budgets and schedules.

  • Manage and coordinate multiple projects and work efforts with other team members in an organized, flawless manner.

  • Gather market intelligence and continuously strive to be an industry leading thinker.

  • Automate tasks and the process for the projects and teams using by sourcing, analyzing and implementing (or building) the latest software and technology

  • Regular travel required to sites / customers (25%+)

Who You Are

  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree required.

  • 5+ years' experience in power plant, solar or real estate development, ideally with some combination of solar project development and financing.

  • Demonstrable experience successfully negotiating transactions and closing deals.

  • Sophisticated understanding of the environmental and utility regulatory environment.

  • Experience managing development budgets and processes.

  • Rigorous attention to detail, work ethic, personal responsibility, work product ownership and organizational skills.

  • Strong business development acumen and exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced business environment.

  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve time-sensitive issues with precision.

  • Understanding and familiarity with building energy consumption patterns, capacity, regulation and technology

  • Driven, resourceful and comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment.

  • Energy, real estate, engineering, or business-related master's degree is a plus.

  • The use of software and technology (off the shelf and self-developed) to automate processes and increase efficiency of delivery for repeatable, scalable growth.
