The Opportunity

The Litigation and Vendor Management (LVM) Specialist supports the management of panel counsel law firms and vendors for all lines of business. This role will be responsible for auditing bills from panel counsel firms and vendors, processing payments, and handling appeals. The LVM Specialist will also assist in conducting the due diligence and onboarding of new firms and vendors, rate evaluation, and ongoing assessment of panel counsel and vendors. The LVM Specialist will assist in other functions related to Litigation Management, including training on tools and processes, management of preferred vendors, and other expense management functions.

Major responsibilities include:
  • Review and audit legal bills from panel counsel firms and vendors for compliance with guidelines and industry standards.
  • Submit approved invoices within the internal accounts payable system.
  • Address legal billing questions and appeals with panel counsel.
  • Monitors panel counsel firms for ongoing compliance with Litigation Guidelines.
  • Participate in the annual audit process for panel counsel.
  • Responsible due diligence and onboarding for new firm applicants and vendors.
  • Participate with panel counsel appeals and rate evaluation.
  • Work with panel counsel participating in CE/CLE training.
  • Monitor Preferred Vendors per the Litigation Guidelines.
  • Work with litigation management and expense management functions, including projects for supporting tools and processes.

Your profile

Successful candidates will be possess the following skills/capabilities:
  • 5+ years of legal bill review or paralegal experience
  • Bachelor’s degree not required but preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate not required but preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in an insurance defense firm either generating or reviewing legal billing in compliance with litigation guidelines, best practices, and industry standards.
  • Experience with bill review and audit process for legal billing.
  • Experience working with litigation management vendors; whether court reporters, record retrieval services, or litigation consulting services.
  • Ability to think creatively and develop better solutions for existing processes.
  • Ability to build and sustain internal and external business relationships.
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office including Access, Excel, and Word.
  • Detail oriented, particularly with respect to data quality.
  • Proven ability to contribute to critical projects and initiatives.
  • Self-motivated and effective at time management and prioritization.
