Civil Construction Estimator

Sandstone Site Services is looking for an experienced estimator to join our growing team. Sandstone is a heavy civil contractor with offices in Orlando and Jacksonville Florida. Sandstone specializes in large site development projects throughout the state of Florida.

Responsibilities:

• You will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting Contract Documents (specifications, drawings, and reference information) to develop detailed, comprehensive cost estimates for various projects throughout Sandstone's markets

• Candidates must be able to make assumptions based on experience where detailed plans are not provided and front-end estimating is performed based on conceptual level designs

• Ensuring estimates and proposals are performed in accordance with company practices and standards.

• Establish and maintain budget control during Estimating & Preconstruction phases of the project

• Coordinate internal and external input required for estimates and proposals

• Participating in estimate reviews and presentations to senior management

• Assist with training of estimating staff.

• Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers throughout the pre-bid process, including solicitation of bids and constructability input.

• Manage comparisons between self-perform estimates and subcontractor quotes

• Prequalification and Proposal assistance functions

• Preparing value engineering solutions; including cost, schedule, and Owner benefits

• Preparing responses to Request for Qualifications (RFQ's) and Request for Proposals (RFP's)

• Participating in client interview presentations for negotiated bids

Qualifications:

• 2+ years’ experience in construction/estimating

• Background in estimating Civil Projects

• Previous experience with HCSS software and Agtek is required.

• Candidates must possess a strong work ethic; good interpersonal skills; demonstrate good organization, verbal and written communication skills; excellent leadership skills

• Results-oriented individual with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities

Work Environment:

Work is performed outside in varying types of environmental conditions. The requirements of this position involve extended periods of strenuous physical activity under various field and weather conditions. Applicant must be able to lift, carry, stand, walk on uneven surfaces, manually manipulate, grasp, reach out, climb, kneel, bend, twist, and push/pull.
