The Buhl Club (the managing partner) is hiring a full time Childcare Director for the Baughman Family Community Center in Greenville, PA.

A director is responsible for the general management of the facility.

Qualifications:

  • Administering finances, personnel, maintenance, meal planning and overall safety of the facility.
  • Administering the facility’s program objectives and activities.
  • Designating a staff person who is responsible for compliance with this chapter in the Director’s absence.
  • Coordinating and planning daily center routines and activities with the office coordinator.
  • Overall program planning.
  • Written evaluation of staff persons on a regular basis, a minimum of one evaluation every 12 months.
  • Knowledge of DHS licensing, Keystone Stars participation, and requirements for all staff files and trainings.
  • Meets or exceeds DHS requirements for Director Position.
  • Must have child abuse, criminal record and FBI Fingerprint, and National Sex Offender Database clearances dated within 5 years
  • Must have a physical every two years and a negative TB test upon hiring.
  • General knowledge of nutrition and health & must be certified in Pediatric First Aid, CPR/AED

A director shall have attained one of the following qualification levels: (DHS minimum requirements)

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 1 year of experience with children.; A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 2 years of experience with children; An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 3 years of experience with children; An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 4 years of experience with children.; A director shall be employed by a facility and be present at the facility site a minimum of 30 hours per week; OR In a facility in which 45 or fewer children are enrolled, a director may also function as a group supervisor. An individual who functions in a dual capacity shall meet the responsibilities and qualifications of a director.

Responsibilities and Principle Activities:

Service Skills

  • Maintain participation in food program, child care subsidy and maintaining all grants/money sources that are a part of the child are facility.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected. Supports and budgets for healthy eating through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that the program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
  • Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Keeps the director position current with up to date trainings, conferences and professional development.
  • Provides staff leadership for annual fund raising campaign and committees as assigned.
  • Maintains proper records/department files.
  • Organizes special events for parents. Assists in fundraising activities.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Works with a goal of maintaining a Keystone Star 4 facility
