Job Title: Child Care Access Means Parents In School Program Specialist (Grant Funded)

Location: Morristown Campus (Employees are assigned to a “home” location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations.)

Job Purpose: Directs the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Child Care Access Means Parents in School Program (CCAMPIS). This position is responsible for establishing the day to day operations/services of the CCAMPIS child care tuition assistance program to ensure low income student parents’ greater access to higher education success. Assesses student parent needs, integrates CCAMPIS program into the existing structure of Student Parent Programs; recruits, selects and orients students to the program and tracks student parent progress to graduation. Arranges meetings of CCAMPIS Advisory Team, prepares all required grant reports adhering to federal reporting timelines and criteria.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for promoting campus-wide awareness of the CCAMPIS program, by overseeing outreach and recruitment activities; determining participant eligibility and coordinating the enrollment process, to include comprehensive participant orientation; and identifying barriers to success and referring participants to appropriate resources as needed.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for the childcare center partners; actively coordinates with centers to match student childcare needs with available childcare openings; conducts regular meetings with program participants to monitor progress, ensures adherence to program requirements and provides mentoring to participants.
  • Prepares and monitors fiscal and technical progress reports; authorizes grant expenditures; monitors the grant budget.
  • Monitors progress toward meeting CCAMPIS goals; collects data and documentation in support of the grant program reporting and evaluation requirements.
  • Ensures that grant activities are implemented in a manner consistent with the approved grant agreement and any subsequently approved modifications; and responsible for retaining appropriate grant records, in accordance with grant or agency guidelines and State of Tennessee records retention requirements.
  • Ensures the CCAMPIS program operates in compliance with U.S. Department of Education grant policies and terms; federal grant administration guidance; and Tennessee Board of Regents and Walters State Community College operational policies and procedures.
  • May perform other duties as required.

Leadership & Supervisory:

  • Performs duties and tasks with minimal supervision
  • No leadership or supervisory responsibilities

Qualifying Standards:

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (verbal & written); ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences
  • Technology Skills: MS Office skills, Word, Excel, Outlook; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems
  • Ability to work independently in a structured environment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and others

Preferred

  • Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Development, Education or any other related field
  • Experience in case management, management, or within a nonprofit or community agency, to include budget management and data and record keeping
  • Higher education administration experience
  • Grant administration experience

Environment & Working Conditions: Office environment is temperature controlled with occasional fluctuations. May be exposed to varying conditions when traveling to various work locations.
