Under general supervision performs work of considerable difficulty which will investigate claims of election error/voter fraud and, as time allows, will assist the criminal division with case preparation.

Please Note: This position is open until filled with review of applications starting on November 14, 2022. This is a temporary, full-time position with an expected end date of June 30, 2023

Typical Duties

(Illustrative Only)

  • Locate difficult/challenging witnesses
  • Coordinate service of subpoenas
  • Photograph/video witnesses and/or crime scenes
  • Interview and conduct background research on potential defense witnesses
  • Assist in phone downloads/analysis
  • Assist in jail phone call monitoring
  • Confer with attorneys regarding strengths/weaknesses of case
  • Train staff on office functions and basic case investigation
  • Attend victim/witness meetings where additional fact statements need to be taken, recorded, and documented
  • Handle threatening individuals who are presenting as a risk to office personnel
  • Case follow-up as needed
  • Testify in court
Essential functions include: Driving, lifting, carrying, pushing pulling file boxes (up to 60 lbs.); working with and around others (internal customers such as attorneys and staff and external customers such as defendants, suspects and witnesses); working with interruptions; repetitive motion (hand/ wrist); vision acuity (near/far) for computer work and driving; hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; touch and finger dexterity for typing.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years of law enforcement, including two years of full-time investigation experience; OR

Associate degree in a related field and three years of law enforcement, including two years of full-time investigation experience; OR

Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of law enforcement, including two year of full-time investigation experience; OR

Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be AZ Post certified. Must obtain an Arizona driver’s license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Homicide and child abuse investigation experience.

This position is non-exempt from overtime. This means this position is eligible for overtime.

This position is safety sensitive.

  • Prepare and maintain records and reports
  • Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public
  • Follow written and verbal instructions
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
