The Waldhaus Flims Alpine Grand Hotel & Spa is a historic, alpine resort located in the town of Flims, approximately 140 kilometers from Zurich in the heart of the Swiss Alps. Opened in 1877, the Waldhaus Flims exemplifies the successful integration of tradition and innovation in the art of hospitality. The resort offers an array of winter and summer activities including skiing, snowboarding, golfing, hiking and mountain biking. The Waldhaus Flims has nearly 150 rooms, features a leading spa and wellness program that includes a fitness center and more than 13 treatment rooms, renowned restaurants and lounges and offers the largest event space in the region.


About Carillon Miami Wellness Resort (An AWR Managed Company)

The Carillon Miami Wellness Resorts (“Carillon”) is a luxurious wellness destination on the shores of one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. The property is under new ownership as of January 2015 and is seeking to capitalize on its exceptional location within the market (68th and Collins, with 750 linear feet of beach frontage), recently upgraded, top-of-the-line systems and facilities, and health/wellness niche to establish a new hotel flag.


The property boasts several impressive features. Firstly, it is a condo hotel with a total of 580 units, out of which 150 suites are eligible for participation in the hotel rental pool. Additionally, there is a lavish 65,000 square foot luxury spa, complete with 21 treatment rooms, four sparkling swimming pools, and an extensive range of medical services. For fitness enthusiasts, there is a state-of-the-art fitness facility that offers over 40 indoor and outdoor fitness classes daily. Moreover, the property includes 6,000 square feet of raw commercial retail space along Collins Avenue. As for dining options, guests can indulge in a variety of food and beverage outlets, such as Carillon Miami Wellness Resort's Strand, Cabana, Cornerstore, and In Suite Dining. Notably, the Michelin-awarded Tambourine Room adds a touch of culinary excellence, with plans to establish itself as the premier food and beverage destination in South Florida.


The Position

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for financial accounting, reporting and operational analysis for all aspects of Alchemy Wellness Resorts (AWR) and Carillon. This executive will also help establish strategic plans and provide leadership and support the management team and staff. The Chief Financial Officer will demonstrate a personal philosophy of life and work ethic compatible with AWR’s principles and image. As AWR begins to scale, this position will eventually pivot into a full-time Chief Financial Officer of AWR and this executive will be responsible for backfilling their position at Carillon. The position will report to the Chief Executive Officer of AWR and is based in Miami Beach, FL.


Scope of responsibilities:

  • Serve as a member of the Executive Committee (Carillon Guidance Team).
  • Provide strategic financial direction to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Managers.
  • Prepare and present, together with the Chief Executive Officer, monthly/quarterly operating reports to various stakeholders such as the management team and private equity ownership group.
  • Process and record journal entries for AWR (initially in QuickBooks)
  • Process payments and manage benefits administration for AWR staff.
  • Responsible for daily accounting and finance activities, internal and external financial reporting, treasury and cash management, budgeting, financial planning and analysis, operational analysis and internal controls.
  • Work with senior leadership team to set goals and drive toward execution of those goals; quickly establish relationships with business unit leaders and department heads.
  • Establish key performance indicators to provide management team visibility of operating results on a timely basis to achieve financial goals.
  • Champion contract negotiations and contract submissions and work closely with outside counsel on revisions.
  • Communicate with sponsor’s counsel on ongoing initiatives.
  • Re-engineer processes and integrate systems to enhance efficiency and timeliness of monthly financial reporting.
  • Critically evaluate and analyze all cost allocation methodologies and processes.
  • Develop standard operating policies and procedures for all accounting, purchasing and IT services in collaboration with the corporate staff of AWR managed companies.
  • Critically evaluate all leases, contracts and insurance policies.
  • Work closely with insurance brokers and ownership’s Head of Compliance and Risk Management on recommended limits and coverage in connection new deals/initiatives.
  • Work closely with department heads to actively monitor, update and refresh COI repository for current vendors and partners.
  • Identify and implement value-creation initiatives across all business units and departments.
  • Encourage a culture supportive of change, urgency, continuous improvement and rapid implementation and accountability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education, Experience and Skill Requirements

  • B.A. or B.S. in Accounting or Finance required; CFA, CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
  • Experience as Chief Financial Officer / CFO of complex, multidimensional corporate organization or hotel/resort property, is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated success managing through complex, multi-entity financial, accounting and legal issues.
  • Private equity and/or turnaround experience is desirable.
  • Proactive identification of cost saving opportunities. Demonstrated track record of EBITDA improvement.
  • Strong strategic thinker with ability to apply broad background and experiences to a new situation.
  • High-energy, self-starter who operates with a sense of urgency to implement change.
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize value-added activities.
  • Expertise in oversight of monthly, quarterly and annual internal and external financial reporting and financial planning, analysis and measurement, banking and cash management.
  • Has had big-company experience but must be a “hands-on” Chief Financial Officer with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently on a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic with a “roll-up the sleeves” mentality and can-do attitude.
  • Experience with oversight of IT and HR helpful.
  • 10-15% travel anticipated which is likely to grow overtime as AWR begins to scale.
