Summary: The Chief Behavioral Health Officer’s main purpose is to lead and inspire a high level of performance and dedication with SWCHC Behavioral Health staff. The CBHO will shape the department by leading organizational efforts to improve the health of our communities. This will be achieved by creating and implementing best practices, protocols, and policies. The CBHO will demonstrate a deep knowledge/expertise in the field. The CBHO monitors the Behavioral Health service line’s clinical performance to ensure services and operations are following all applicable regulatory, certification and licensing agencies. As a member of the C-Suite, the CBHO is responsible for developing, implementing, reviewing, and directing Behavioral Health Clinical protocols, performance objectives, productivity benchmarks, compliance measures, provider workflow planning and provider scheduling. The CBHO serves as coach/mentor/trainer to Behavioral Health clinicians and staff, giving guidance in best practices, troubleshooting behavioral health services and operations issues in priority of urgency according to SWCHC policy and standards
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties are subject to accommodation in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation and quality outcomes of the Behavioral Health service line.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, and ensuring appropriate training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving issues.
  • In collaboration with the Chief of BH Clinical Services, directs the clinical activities and productivity of the entire SWCHC Behavioral Health Service Line in all locations.
  • In collaboration with other Clinical Chiefs and clinical/operational leaders, plans, organizes, and oversees the clinical programmatic work within the service line and ensures the development and sustainability of integrated and specialty behavioral health services.
  • Participates in training to improve Behavioral Health patient care such as learning evidence-based approaches to self-management support, proactively addressing the needs of patients and families in this community, cultural competency, OSHA, HIPAA and EHR, patient population management, computer literacy and skills, communication skills, etc.
  • Review relevant literature, synthesize evidence-based materials, and translate complex behavioral health concepts.
  • Identify funding opportunities for Behavioral Health Services; participate in preparing proposals. Under direction of President/CEO, negotiate contracts and agreements pertaining to Behavioral Health services.
  • Capable of aggregating and analyzing data relevant to clinical and administrative performance improvement.
  • Provides direct client care including individual and group therapy.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Licensed behavioral health provider
  • Eight years’ experience in a supervisory/management role in human services.
  • Community Health Center experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Computer literacy.
