We manage food and beverage service at iconic NYC cultural institutions including Jazz at Lincoln Center, Apollo Theater, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and Wave Hill. We support numerous festivals and special events including the New York City Wine and Food Festival and collaborate on many projects with The James Beard Foundation. Great Performances is the first catering company to own and operate its own 60 acre organic farm—Katchkie Farm, in Kinderhook, New York, enabling us to support our sustainability goals.

Great Performances is hiring Chefs.

We enhance life's celebrations with great food and artful service while maintaining a high level of professionalism and grace.

We work side-by-side with local growers and purveyors to bring the freshest seasonal foods from farm to table.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Ensure culinary quality, freshness and efficient production across all menu items.
  • Plan menus, create new recipes and execute presentation in conjunction with culinary management team
  • Implement and maintain food safety and kitchen hygiene standards
  • Review staffing levels to meet service, operational and financial objectives. Hire kitchen staff in conjunction with HR Department.
  • Schedule culinary staff and oversee their workflow
  • Train cooks and dishwashers. Set and monitor culinary staff performances standards.
  • Purchase food and supplies from company approved vendors and monitor stocking levels
  • Perform administrative tasks, including taking food and equipment inventories
  • Oversee kitchen equipment cleanliness and maintenance
  • Obtain feedback on food and service quality, and handle customer/client issues and complaints in conjunction with front of house team

Requirements:


  • Minimum 2 years of managerial restaurant experience. Professional culinary background refences required.
  • Basic computer skills and software knowledge, including Microsoft Excel
  • Maintains a positive attitude
  • Maintain a clean and polished appearance
  • New York City Food Handler's Certificate will ne required.
