SUMMARY

The Head Start Center Director should have the ability to use good judgment in making decisions (in accordance with CCA Head Start policies and procedures) regarding effective operation of center, give instructions and see that each person in the center carries out duties and responsibilities as stated in job description.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Primary

1. Supervise all center staff members using sound judgment in making decisions in accordance with CCA Head Start policies and procedures, SC DSS Regulations, Head Start Performance Standards, ABC Quality Standards, and standards governing the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), including The Code of Ethics giving instructions and overseeing that each person in center carries out duties and responsibilities as stated in job description.

2. Regularly communicate center business with supervisor.

3. Assume responsibility of maintaining proper functioning, security and cleanliness of center, property, and equipment.

4. Maintain and insure that all center children and staff records are accurate and up to date.

5. Be involved in evaluating sessions with center staff.

6. Offering input on parent activities prior to FSCWs obtaining final approval from the Family Services Community Partnerships Manager. Ensure that all mandated standards and regulations are followed in reference to all parental activities.

7. Provide community with information concerning Head Start by circulating a program-wide newsletter; provide final approval of the parent newsletter.

8. Conduct yearly observations of center staff and arrange/conduct bi-monthly staffing sessions with center staff.

9. Disseminate information from Center Director meetings and work collectively to develop classroom problem solving techniques.

10. Make referrals to supervisor on behalf of entire staff, including disciplinary and coaching referrals.

11. Submit timesheets, absentee, meal, and other reports to supervisor.

12. Assume responsibility for isolation of sick children and notification of child’s parents.

13. Collect and review weekly lesson plans from all teachers and submit to supervisor.

14. Complete 20 minute CLASS observation cycles for each classroom on a regular schedule

15. Obtain and maintain CLASS Reliability

16. Carry out other duties as assigned.

Secondary

1. Plan travel routes as needed.

2. Fill in for Teacher in cases of absence

3. Ride bus.

4. Assist in cleaning center and outside grounds.

5. Provide initial approval of leave forms, field trips, and nutrition activities prior to sending for secondary approval

6. Verify and sign timesheets for all staff at the center

7. Enter necessary documentation into Child Plus to ensure proper data collection

8. Attend all center director, School Readiness, and other relevant meetings and/or trainings

9. Maintain chain of command

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.28 per hour
