Duties of the Cargo Tank Technician/Inspector

The Cargo Tank Technician/Inspector will be responsible for knowing and conducting Cargo Tank (CT) Test per the HM Regulations. The test that will be completed on the CT, an External Inspection, Internal Inspection, Lining Inspection, Thickness Test, Pressure Test, Pressure Relief Device (PRD) Test and Inspection, Leakage Test, and the EPA Method 27 Test will be completed accurately and timely in accordance with the HM Regulations

The Cargo Tank Technician/Inspector will be responsible for:

· Completing the CT Test.

· Identifying the different types of CT’s.

· Identifying what type of test and when the CT requires testing.

· Identifying the different components of the CT.

· Knowledge of how the components operate.

· Components would be valves, piping, manholes, venting devices, overfill.

· How to use the testing tools required to accurately complete the test.

The RI should have the following skills, education, and experience:

Minimum of 1-4 years VIK Inspection Experience

· Have the knowledge and ability to determine whether a cargo tank conforms to the applicable DOT specification.

· Has a high school diploma (or General Equivalency Diploma) and three years of work experience relating to the testing and inspection of cargo tanks.

· Have initial and or job specific training in the last three years.

· Meet all training requirements in 172.704 of the HM Regulations
