Wanted: Weekday Support Staff for 38 year old autistic woman living on a farm

Hours: Weekdays from 9-3 or 3-9

Pay: $20/Hour

Location: Accord, NY (Ulster County)

Job Description: Looking for weekday staff persons to provide 1:1 supervision, support activities of daily living (ADLs), promote client’s work on farm to include animal care and manual labor, accompany on errands and outings, and keep clients’ time productive and engaging.

Responsibilities Include:

• Plan and carry out activities in the home and out in the community.
• Assist in maintaining client’s schedule of activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Provide prompts and coaching to further develop independent living skills.
• Meal preparation.
• Driving client to and from activities and programs.

About the clients: Client is a 38 year old woman with autism and OCD. She has lived on the farm with 24-hour support staff for eight years. She identifies as being a farmer. She has limited verbal abilities, but communicates with prompting, typing and non-verbal communication to show her desires and needs effectively. The client needs oversight and prompting and supervision to be certain she does not harm herself. The client is able to eat meals independently. She is able to use the bathroom/bath with some help, prompting, and assistance with personal hygiene. She is building independent living skills; the ideal candidate will continue to encourage growth in these skills. She thrives on routine and can complete ADLs with support.

Client enjoys: Hiking, art - including painting and pottery, exercising, baking, old movies, reading and listening to music.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
• Background in psychology/mental health/social work is a plus.
• Experience supporting individuals with ADLs and life skills is a plus.
• Clean Driver’s License.
• Clear and confident communicator.
• Able to be outdoors on a farm for portions of the day
• Comfortable using G-Suite (Google Classroom) or openness to learning

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• Night shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Kingston, NY: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

• Caregiving: 1 year (Preferred)
