About Our Job
Denver Economic Development & Opportunity (DEDO) is partnering with CareerWise Colorado offering high school students the opportunity to work for the City and County of Denver. These positions will only be offered to current students of CareerWise Colorado and are classified as Youth Assistant.
***THIS IS A 2-YEAR APPRENTICESHIP AND IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS WHO ARE SENIORS AT THE START OF THE APPRENTICESHIP.***
Below are some of the exciting departments students will get the opportunity to work in:

Facilities Management: Facilities Management team members employ creative problem solving and brainstorming in order to solve unique challenges each day. If you want to make a difference for the team, the city, and its residents – this is your way to make an impact and learn in the process!

Department of Finance: The Controller's Office and Budget Office are dynamic environments that seek innovative ideas that promote effective, efficient, and accountable government while maintaining the highest level of integrity. As an Accounts payable Technician (Associate Accountant), you will provide financial management services to City agencies. The services provided include financial record keeping, procurement/payables support and processing financial transactions. The work will be fluid, dynamic, and require the highest level of customer service to our internal clients. Our team values innovative individuals with a strong commitment to public service. We are looking for candidates who possess exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to thrive in a team environment.

Parks and Recreation: Do you enjoy being outdoors and have a passion for parks and recreation? Are you looking for a new and exciting opportunity to make Denver a livable, inclusive, and healthy city? Denver Parks and Recreation’s Outdoor Recreation Division is excited to announce the launch of new initiatives to support programing in Parks. DPR is looking to hire an apprentice to support outdoor recreation program operations, education, community, and partnership engagement.

General Services: The Department of General Services oversees 6 million square feet in 135 city buildings, $330 million in city purchases, $40 million in annual utility costs, and various other support services for the city. The Administration Division is housed within General Services and consists of four distinct offices that perform mission essential work for the City and County of Denver.
