A CAPTION EDITOR

LOCATION: Stanfordville, New York
DEPARTMENT: Closed Captioning Department
STATUS: Full Time - Non-exempt

We are a growing closed captioning/subtitling company headquartered in Stanfordville, New York. You would be responsible for closed captioning broadcast and non-broadcast programs for the deaf and hard of hearing. This position will be a key member of the team. We need a detail oriented, computer literate, proactive individual who can work well with others and take a lot of individual initiative and responsibility. This individual must be organized, steady in periods of high demand and produce high quality work.

You would need to be onsite in our Stanfordville, New York office for an initial 6 - 8 week training period. Following the initial training period, Caption Editors are welcome to work remotely as much or as little as they'd like.

General Criteria: Proofreading, editing, research or writing experience required. Knowledge of the closed captioning process helpful, but not required. Spanish or French language ability a plus.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of proper grammar and usage. Typing skills of 55+ wpm. General familiarity with MS Windows. Ability to master and utilize state-of-the-art closed captioning/subtitling software. The maturity to complete projects under a strict deadline, with some overtime as necessary.

Educational Requirements: BA in English, Spanish, French, History, Communications, or Journalism preferred.
