POSITION: Director of College Success (2023-2024 School Year)
GRADE LEVEL: High School
LOCATION: Hiring at multiple locations. You can see a list of our current openings

SALARY: $68,758-$77,008 based on years of aligned experience up to 6 years. We also offer a
relocation stipend
if you are moving from a location greater than 75 miles from Denver!
STATUS: Full time, benefits eligible, exempt, in-person position (Denver, CO)

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of College Success is the college culture leader on campus and is responsible for leading the school team in ensuring DSST Public School students have ample and viable college matriculation options and the knowledge, skills, and mindsets they need to truly succeed in college.
  • Leadership
    • DSST Mission Driven: shares a sense of urgency about achievement for ALL students and preparing every student for post secondary success.
    • Demonstrates tenacity and persistence in pursuit of solutions that maximize student opportunity; is willing to do whatever it takes to get the work done right.
    • Leads grades 6-12 whole school college going culture - inspires students, families, staff, and others to believe in and reflect the school’s mission, high expectations and values. Includes morning meetings, seminars, family workshops and engagement, professional development.
    • Demonstrates a high level of professional maturity, including emotional constancy in stressful situations, the ability to bring out the best in others, a solution seeker, and acts as a positive force to motivate others.
    • Carefully manages tasks and time, is well-organized, and is detail-oriented.
    • Mentors and coaches staff members with challenging but manageable assignments to encourage growth; identify and systematically develops future leaders. This includes development of immediate college team, advisors, and school leadership team via individual check-ins, Cross Campus Collaborations (C3s), network and/or school professional development, etc.
  • Culture
    • Establishes a school college-going culture that is centered on core values that ultimately shows deep care for each student and staff member, and holds each student and staff member to the highest level of accountability.
    • Build relationships with teachers and other members of the administration team in order to positively impact school college culture and results.
    • Creates a professional learning community in which teachers regularly collaborate to reflect on and refine college-going culture and practices at the school using achievement data, student work, and their own observations/experiences.
    • Ensures effective communication with families with respect to student academic performance, programs, and college-going best practices.
  • Systems
    • Able to implement systems that “sweat the small stuff,” maximize the college-going programmatic goals of the school, and are scalable as the school grows.
    • Develops solutions to complex problems that involve multiple stakeholders and steps.
    • Develops a planning process that identifies the school’s highest-priorities.
  • Structural/Programmatic Responsibilities
    • Recruit, hire, and manage college success team which includes college placement, summer programs, and internships—option to include senior project and enrichment opportunities, as well.
    • Work with DSST Home Office to create network-wide standards, curriculum documents.
    • Work with DSST Home Office to create network-wide new college team professional development; create school-specific new and returning college professional development.
  • Instructional Responsibilities:
    • Position will encompass instructional coaching, culture leadership and support as it relates to college—i.e. coaching advisors, staff.
  • Serve as a recruiter for new students; actively engage prospective families in an effort to draw more students to choose your school; be willing to take on additional tasks to support recruitment, as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned such as supporting student recruitment, running a small group advisory class, after school tutoring, etc.*
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proven commitment to and experience with serving students of color, students with disabilities, and/or multilingual students
  • At least 3 years classroom teaching experience
  • Spanish language proficiency

  • An unwavering belief that all students can succeed in high school, reach their most ambitious post-secondary goals, and lead exemplary lives
  • Desire to personally professionally grow in their practice of becoming an anti-racist educator
  • Self-awareness, a regular practice of reflection, and a desire to continuously improve
  • In order to be considered qualified to lead at DSST Public Schools, you will need a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • College Success experience required

DSST Public Schools (DSST) operates a network of tuition-free, open-enrollment public STEM charter schools. DSST schools operate within the Denver Public Schools (DPS) and Aurora Public Schools (APS) districts. Our schools focus on building a community where students and staff are valued for their unique talents.
