Call Specialist - Assessment & Referral


We are currently seeking a Call Specialist to join our Assessment and Referral team to work on a full time basis.


Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital
provides inpatient treatment services to children, adolescents and adults at our 86-bed facility in Panama City, FL and outpatient services to adolescents and adults at our three outpatient centers located throughout the Florida Panhandle. Additionally, we offer specialized treatment for active duty military members through our Military Resiliency Program, specialized chemical dependency treatment and TMS therapy for chronic depression.

The Call Specialist is responsible for coordinating aspects of the admissions process. This includes but is not limited to efficient and effective handling of phone calls, processing of referrals for possible admission, knowledge of and communicating with referral sources and customers who are presented for assessment. Additional responsibilities include insurance verification/precertification, patient registration process, vitals, wanding, patient observations, scheduling of evaluations, admissions processing, bed board monitoring, belongings searches/inventorying, and other clinical/non-clinical duties as assigned. The Call Specialist works under the direct supervision of a RN, LPN or Therapist.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Responsilbe for managing incoming calls, faxes, referrals and monitoring the entrance and exit doors in A&R.
  • Assure a safe entrance into A&R by utilizing the protable metal detector to scan all patients and accompanying family/friends.
  • Secure all belongings and ititiate required intake paperwork.
  • Orient patients to the faciliyt with emphasis on procedures & standard practices.
  • Collect insurance and financial infomation. Verify insurance converage and benefits.
  • Utilize computer system to collect and entercore date elements such as authorization information .
  • Communicate indentified case problems to apprropriate level of management.
  • Provides hands-on physical care, supervision, crisis intervention, behavior management, & behavior modification, employing appropriate verbal and crisis intervention techniques
  • Conducts patient rounds and reports deviations from the expectations and standards
  • Maintains professional therapeutic boundaries with patients and families

Qualifications:
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Some college or post high school education preferred.
  • Two years of health care experience required. Acute behavioral health experience preferred.
  • Ability to work a 40 hour work schedule Monday through Friday 9a-5:30p.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
