Position Details:

This is a newly created specialized business development position geared to identifying and gaining a commitment from new customers currently not working with E&R. The Business Development Manager will report to E&R's VP of Sales and will proactively prospect and engage potential customers in the Allentown, Harrisburg, Philadelphia areas. Leveraging insights and company Value Proposition tools like metalworking technical expertise and inventory management solutions like vending and VMI, resulting in commitments to purchase metalworking and supporting MRO supplies from E&R.

You Will:

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop and manage a robust pipeline of prospective opportunities in the E&R primary target market segments
  • Prospect for new customer opportunities within defined production metalworking segments
  • Manage prospect pipeline using a prescriptive sales methodology giving visibility to internal teams.
  • Conduct needs analysis to determine a match between the customer's requirements and E&R/ Grainger's products or services
  • Use marketing insight and value proposition levers to create interest and gain agreement from prospective customers within the E&R target markets
  • Use checking questions to gain feedback from customer on customized solution recommendations
  • Support implementation of new Customers in collaboration with Field Sales and Services
  • Engage E&R/ Grainger resources to develop plans and timelines to implement new customer programs and solutions
  • Facilitate implementation of new customer location programs through collaboration with Field Sales Service and Support Team and with assigned field sales partners.
  • Use post-implementation success as part of improvement review of Business Development Team techniques
You Have:

  • Minimum of 3 years new Business Development experience in distributor or equivalent industrial market in manufacturing environments
  • Some familiarity with metalworking/cutting tools ideal.
  • Competency using a formal sales methodology and opportunity pipeline
  • Competency prospecting and closing new customers on programs and solutions
  • Business analysis experience and the ability to identify and implement improvement opportunities
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel
