SUMMARY

The Business Development Director position has responsibility for company-wide business planning, development, implementation, management, oversight, and reporting activities. To fulfill these obligations, the Business Development Director must be able to work effectively with company management and staff, organize and prioritize multiple overlapping business development tasks, effectively train and manage staff, and prepare business plans, marketing materials, pre-qualification packages, and proposals in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.

TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, develop, implement, manage, and report on company-wide business development activities in collaboration with company management and staff.
  • Identify, develop, and implement strategies and systems to consistently improve company-wide business development.
  • Assist with strategic planning for business sustainment and growth.
  • Assist company management in the development and implementation of a proactive business development program including goal setting, business plans, tracking, and reporting.
  • Monitor and evaluate proposal and bid success rates.
  • Develop and track potential project leads.
  • Assist with go/no-go decision making.
  • Obtain and re-new federal, state, and other client pre-qualification certifications.
  • Assist with preparation for and attend trade shows and conferences.
  • Prepare IDIQ, SF-330, and other qualification or cost-based proposal packages with a focus on effective proposal management with respect to quality, cost, and schedule.
  • Develop and lead business development training sessions for company managers and staff to raise the collective bar on business development activities.
  • Hire, train, and develop proposal writing staff to ensure consistent high quality, effective, and efficient pre-qualification and proposal submittals.
  • Promote client and firm public relations and participate within industry organizations (ACEC, KSPE, AGC, DBIA)
  • Assist in the identification, cultivation, and development of company teaming partners.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree and/or master’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field and a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM)
  • Valid US Driver’s License

ADDITIONAL CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • Professional Engineer (PE)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong technical knowledge, experience, and capabilities in area of practice.
  • Strong proficiency in computer assisted office software.
  • Proficiency in Deltek Vision client, lead, opportunity, and proposal software applications.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in the English language.
  • High level ability to define problems, collect/interpret data, evaluate facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • High level leadership and organizational skills.

This position will be based in Nicholasville, KY but will require travel to other offices as needed. The position requires maintaining current industry knowledge and expertise through active involvement in professional organizations and/or other activities that may require additional and/or flexible working hours. The ability and availability to readily work overtime and perform duties outside of normal working hours may be required to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
