    POSITION: Bus Assistant

    SALARY RANGE: Per Classified Salary Schedule $13.00-23.47 per hour, plus prorated School District Comprehensive Benefits Package. Nine-month position prorated for the remainder of the school year (follows the school calendar with daily schedule to be determined by the Director of Support Services).

    QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
    • Minimum of a high school diploma required.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
    • No experience required, however, experience working in healthcare, working with children with various learning and physical disabilities, and/or working with children in a school setting is a plus.
    • Able to provide care and assistance to passengers in route and entering or leaving the bus during transportation.
    • Able to load and unload passengers as needed using mechanical lift apparatus. Secure students as necessary with seat belts, care seats, safety vest, or wheelchair secure systems.
    • Able to assist Bus Drivers with following route directions, preparing written disciplinary action reports, and maintaining the cleanliness of the bus as assigned.
    • Able to assist Bus Driver with performing emergency evacuations and drills.
    • Ability to supervise students on the bus, and school grounds as assigned by the administration or designee. This will include supervising students in the bus loading area after students are unloaded prior to school and supervising students after school prior to loading on bus. Able to manage student behavior, assist students to/from the classroom, implement discipline actions, monitor safety, and assist injured or ill students as needed.
    • Able to serve as a team player; perform clerical work, assist with communications between home and school and respond to minor emergencies and perform first aid as necessary as necessary.
    • Such alternatives to the above duties as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    • As soon as possible preferred.
    • 9-month position (morning, midday and afternoon routes) prorated for the remainder of the school calendar.
    • Criminal background check required for hire.
    • CPR and First Aid certifications required within 1 month after hire.
    • All contracts/agreements for employment of personnel shall be subject to the approval of the Board of Education.
    • No smoking is allowed in any Weld County School District Re 8 buildings.
    • Selected applicant must comply with the District's Drug-Free Workplace policy.
    • As required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA), the selected applicant must verify, within 72 hours of employment, his/her legal right to be employed in the United States.
