Position Summary

The primary purpose of the building maintenance assistant is responsible for helping coordinate building and grounds maintenance and upkeep. Helps minimize interruptions to daily building operations through basic routine maintenance, troubleshooting and helping coordinate scheduling of tradesmen services such as plumbers, electricians, HVAC, landscapers and others. Follow established routine maintenance schedules. Works independently following general task schedule including projects with latitude for unplanned tasks and projects.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide basic maintenance services as required and coordinate additional outside service as needed.
  • Daily building walk around and inspection including checking lights, humidity/temp and check the ground for debris
  • Develop, implement and follow preventative maintenance programs
  • Warehouse housekeeping
  • Keep maintenance supervisor and operations manager informed of important issues with building maintenance
  • Use of standard/power tools
  • Demonstrate consistent and predictable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

Requires a high school diploma/GED preferred. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to lift at least 70 pounds and good physical condition related to freedom of movement.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage and effectively prioritize multiple projects
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite

Work Environment

Work is performed in an office and outside environment with minimal, if any, travel outside of the office. Requires the ability to stand for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; lift and move objects weighing up to 70 pounds; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; use of standard equipment, including a computer, telephone, copier, printer, fax machine scale, pallet jack, banding machine, razor knife, and tape measure.
