Salary/Wage: $23.50- $27.00 based on experience
Place of Work: Various job-sites around east TN
Position Status: 40 or more hrs/week
Basic Job Description: Install brick, block and stone mostly in mortar bed to construct walls or other structures.
Duties/Qualifications:
- 3-4 years of experience
- Measure distance from reference points and mark guidelines to lay out work, using plumb bobs and levels.
- Figure and mark angles and courses and determine vertical and horizontal alignment of courses.
- Attach brick or similar building materials to structure with cement and ties.
- Cut bricks, blocks and stone to size, using trowel edge, hammer, or power saw.
- Spread and smooth mortar with a trowel.
- Remove excess mortar with trowels and hand tools, and finish mortar joints with jointing tools uniformly to properly seal joints.
- Examine masonry structures to determine need for repair
- Remove damaged brick, block, or mortar, using chisels, chipping hammers, or bars.
- Build plumb strait corners using a corner pole or by use of a level, then lay block and or brick between corners using a string line.
Additional Information:
Adequate transportation and a full complement of masonry tools are required. Workers must complete a drug test, e-verify, and a possible background check.
