POSITION SUMMARY
Assists with members transactions in the Cashiering Department and originates and completes new loans in the Loan Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Receives checks and cash for deposit, verifies amount, and examines checks for endorsements.

Cashes checks and pays out money after verification of signatures and Members balances.

Enters members' transactions into computer to record transactions, and issues computer generated receipts.

Place holds on accounts for uncollected funds.

Orders daily supply of cash, and counts incoming cash.

Balances currency, coin, and checks in cash drawer at end of shift and compares totaled amounts with data displayed on computer screen.

Explains, promotes, or sells products or services.

Receives telephone and mail inquiries from members and possible loan applicants; answers questions and offers pertinent information regarding loan policies and regulations

Quote prevailing rates and cost of loans to interested parties.

Request additional information from outside agencies including credit reports, employment verification, reference checks, etc. and verifies accuracy

Act as liaison between loan applicant and Credit Union while loan request is being processed and reviewed.

Prepares letters, reports, requests, and prepares files, and forms as necessary.

Calculates length and payment of new loans

Enter data into PC Lender/computerized information/record keeping systems; posting amounts, balancing accounts, transferring funds, etc.

Establishes and maintains files and information on loans.

Answer incoming phone calls and route to appropriate loan officer as necessary.

Interviews members to obtain information and explains available financial services such as auto and personal loans, credit cards, savings and checking accounts, Individual Retirement Accounts and Share Certificates.

Enters account information obtained from member into I-Power and PC lender and approves or declines loans based on credit score and lending guidelines.

Prepare documents for new accounts and loans.

Present funds received from members to Member Service Rep.or ATM for deposit and obtain receipt for member.

Delinquency ratio is not to exceed 1.0 and Charge-off Ratio is not to exceed 1.0 of loan portfolio. BSO's who fail to maintain standards are subject to revocation of sales incentives, signing authority and/or disciplinary action.

Obtain credit records from credit reporting agency. Approves loans within assigned limits or refers decline to the next level of review, Branch Manager, Credit Manager or Central Lending for possible override.

Assists in Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Annual Certifications

Services ATM as needed.

Assist in daily reconciliation/balancing of office totals and GL’s.

Engages in cold conversations to create business and develop relationships.

Compiles required and special reports on operating functions of branch

Verifies workers’ count of incoming cash shipments.

All team members must comply with regulatory compliance and assigned training requirements including but not limited to BSA regulations corresponding to their specific job duties. This includes the SAFE Act. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary and other employment related actions.

Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to members and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute dividends and interest.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands and fingers to enter data and count cash. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to use calculator and enter data on a PC. Must be able to process a minimum of 13 transactions per hour. Must be able to communicate Credit Union policies and procedures to members in an easily understood and professional manner. Ability to be bonded.

Must comply with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and other Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Laws and Regulations, as they pertain to federal guidelines and internal policies and procedures.

Requires daily monitoring of transactions from compliance with Kern Schools Federal Credit Union’s Anti-Money Laundering Program. This monitoring will include, at a minimum, completion of currency transaction forms when required, proper recordkeeping when issuing official checks or money orders, and Office of Foreign Asset Control verifications as necessary. In addition, the reporting of any activity that falls within the Suspicious Activity Report criteria.
