POSITION PAY
$21.00 plus $2.00 shift premium
POSITION Hours
2nd Shift (Mon - Thu, 3pm - 1:30am)
POSITION SUMMARY
Set up and operate power brake press and shear to bend, notch, punch, form rolls, arc, or straighten metal sheets and structural shapes to blueprint or sketch specifications.
POSITION DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Knowledge of set up and operation of shear operation, optimizer sheets and brake press function
  • Perform quality checks throughout the operation
  • Selects, positions, and aligns dies in machine ram and bed
  • Ability to turn setscrew or bolts to fasten clamp bar that holds dies in position
  • Ability to turn adjustment screws to set specified pressure of ram and clearance between dies to thickness of metal, as indicated by calibrated scale or feelers.
  • Performs lay outs or details layout on work stock from blueprints or templates.
  • Positions work piece manually or with crane in order to align layout marks to dies
  • Starts machine to lower ram or depress pedal to activate ram that bends or cuts metal
  • Set stops on machine bed and repositions stock to run successive pieces or to perform multiple operations
  • Verifies dimensions of work piece
  • Devises and builds temporary dies
  • Perform inventory control of sheet stock
  • Operates apron brake which bends metal by forcing metal between movable apron and horizontal bending bar
  • Support Six Sigma/Lean and the continuous improvement process

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SKILL and KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to read and understand prints, die drawings and other supporting documentation
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Communicate effectively in a verbal and a written manner
  • Knowledge of window and curtainwall product and processes
  • Computer software proficiency in the following:
    • CTO-Pro View
    • Intranet
    • ERP software (Epicor/MES)
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Work quickly and accurately

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
The associate is indoors and regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The associate is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; odor; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Regularly required to stand, reach, bend, talk, hear and move about the facility. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Ear plugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, brake, conveyor, lift to assist with moving die in and out of brake
