Seward County Community College is a two-year institution offering 45 programs of study, including Adult Basic Education, certificate programs and Associate of Arts, Science, General Studies and Applied Sciences degrees. Ranked in the top 5% of more than 1,100 accredited community colleges in the U.S. by the Aspen Institute, SCCC serves a student body of 2,500+ students ranging in age from 15 to 85, in a county with the highest foreign-born percentage population in the U.S., and a rural service area of about 50,997 in seven Southwest Kansas counties as well as neighboring counties in southeastern Colorado, the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles.

Responsibilities

Position receives, reconciles, and prepares deposits for money received; maintains financial data and assists in miscellaneous business office and bookkeeping tasks.

  • Receive payments from various sources, prepare deposit slips for the bank, and balance those deposits with bookkeeping system's cashier audits.
  • Request funds provided through ACH, as directed, or delegated. Ensure that ACH notifications are receipted and posted to the general ledger. Maintain proper balancing of financial aid funds to general ledger.
  • Reconcile cashier sessions and checks posted to monthly bank statements. Determine month-end outstanding deposits.
  • Calculates, files, and pay Kansas sales tax of various funds.
  • Assist with student bill processing and refund check activities.
  • Prepares student tax forms (1098Ts).

Qualifications

Associate's degree in accounting or completion of a specialized course of study in accounting/finance. Six months to two years of similar or related experience
