Job description
The Bods Feeding Bods (BFB) VISTA member will build the capacity of the BFB Food and Commodities Pantry at Washburn University (WU) by developing and implementing programs and procedures for low income and food insecure WU community members in Topeka. This VISTA position will impact poverty by helping to recruit, train and mobilize volunteers, work with other emergency food resources (e.g. Harvesters), seek funding and donations, develop promotion/outreach/education resources, events and initiatives, and conduct research on community need. As a result of the VISTA member's service, WU hopes to increase the number of community members served by 20%, receive $25,000 in grants/donations, and plan for the pantry's eventual move into a new space

Member Duties : The BFB VISTA member will create and implement a management plan for Bods Feeding Bods to improve its effectiveness and sustainability. The member will also develop and implement strong relationships with a variety of community partners, Grantmakers, and donors for Bods Feeding Bods to ensure an adequate supply of donations to complete our mission. Additionally, the VISTA member will sustain and strengthen Bods Feeding Bods’ relationship with Harvesters, our primary partner. The VISTA member will set up outreach systems and develop partnerships with community organizations, local businesses, and public education institutions to increase knowledge of Bods Feeding Bods, and develop informational marketing materials.
