The Company

The Morning Star Company and its affiliates operate three tomato processing facilities in Central California, processing 35% to 40% of the California processing tomato crop, in addition to tomato transplanting, harvesting and trucking operations. The company employs approximately 450 year-round and 2,500 seasonal colleagues and annual sales exceeding $800 million.

We are organizationally structured through a system we term Mission Focused Self-Management. Our company is operated by colleagues without titles or an appointed hierarchy of authority. Each Colleague is expected to be the manager of their mission. Authority relative to other colleagues’ activities is lateral and based on their independent agreements. Bin Assemblers: The job requires team-based assembly and preparation of various wood and plastic bins and drums for filling of tomato products, conducts cleaning and labeling of product containers for transport to the warehouse. This job description is a team effort and requires constant and effective communication between colleagues to accomplish the Aseptic Business Unit Mission.

Physical Requirements for Job Description:

• Frequent and repetitive hand/wrist and shoulder movements
• Constant reaching, grasping, and lifting on a regular basis (of up to 60 pounds)
• Constant standing, twisting, bending, and lifting throughout the shift
• Visual, and auditory awareness of forklifts and communication with colleagues
• Follow all written and verbally instructed procedures for the above responsibilities including safety procedures

Work Environment:

• Fast paced production
• High heat and Humidity
• Working around hot steam
• Wet and slippery conditions
• Work on rotating shifts
• Able to work 60+ hours/week
• Loud noises

Competency Requirements:

• Follow all Liberty Packing policies, including GMP’s and safety daily
• Trained in Proper lifting techniques
• Able to work in a self-managed environment and communicate with colleagues
• Maintains a positive attitude towards other colleagues
