Primary Purpose:

Performs administration of employee benefits to include: new hire enrollment, claims resolution, change and payroll reporting, auditing and approving invoices for payment, and communicating all benefit plan information to employees.


Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED with college credit hours or equivalent work experience.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of administration of employee benefits programs
  • Ability to interpret and disseminate insurance and benefits information to individuals and groups
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in keyboarding and file maintenance
  • Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and word processing
  • Knowledge of workers compensation, unemployment, and the leave of absence policies to include FMLA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent computer skills


Experience:

  • Three years’ experience in human resources, or closely related field.


Major Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Administer employee benefit programs such as group health insurance, dental, life, and medical.
  • Ensure that all employee benefit enrollments are processed within required time limits to meet payroll deadlines.
  • Conducts benefits orientation as needed for new hires.
  • Liaison in the annual open enrollment process, including making group presentations and ensures in preparing, distributing, and receiving materials and forms.
  • Acts as liaison to employees for the requirements of the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Administers Affordable Health Care Act compliance requirements in addition to include 1095c processing, distribution, and yearly IRS reporting.
  • Determine eligibility for various leave programs including Family and Medical Leave (FMLA), long term absences and temporary disability leave according to established guidelines and provide employees with required timely notice.
  • Liaison for accommodations requests under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Counsel with employees and supervisors concerning leave benefits and provide employees with accurate information on deductions from pay relating to absences, medical certification requirements, return-to-work dates, etc.
  • Work cooperatively with payroll department and risk management to oversee the processes of all employee leaves and absences, including those relating to workers’ compensation claims.
  • Any other duties required by Chief Human Resources Officer.
