Overview:
Goldbelt Incorporated is an urban, Alaska Native, for-profit corporation with offices in Juneau, Alaska, and Herndon, Virginia. Its primary purpose is to manage assets and conduct business for the benefit of over 4,000 Alaska Native shareholders.

Summary:

The Benefits Administrator will provide administrative support including data entry, record keeping, disability and workers compensation claims, process HR reports and metrics, and benefit administration support.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions:


  • Administer the new hire benefit enrollment process including acting as first point of contact for new hire benefit questions and troubleshooting new hire enrollment issues.
  • Participate in weekly new hire orientation to answer employee benefit questions.
  • Maintains benefit administration system to ensure accurate data transmission between the HRIS, Payroll, and Benefits systems.
  • Act as first point of contact for benefits inquiries from employees on plan provisions, benefit enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries. This includes managing the benefits inbox and escalating issues to Benefits Manager or other departments as required.
  • Provide audit support for 401K and benefit audits.
  • Perform benefits billing reconciliation including full audits of benefit vendor invoices for accuracy and submission to accounting for payment.
  • Facilitate the collection of benefit payments when an employee is out on leave.
  • Leads Open Enrollment at the direction of the Benefits Manager to include facilitating employee communications and presentations, answering questions for Open Enrollment, and approving enrollment requests.
  • Provide weekly benefit change report to payroll.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of workers compensation states.
  • Process employee life events and ensure compliance with Section 125 life event requirements.
  • Files documents into appropriate employee files.
  • Assists or prepares correspondence as requested.
  • Processes mail and faxes and routes appropriately and timely.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of benefits administration
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, database, cloud-based HR systems
  • Skill in communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Skilled in collecting and analyzing complex data.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time.
  • Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associates degree in business, psychology, human resource management, or related field
  • One (1) to three (3) years of benefits and/or human resources experience
  • OR a combination of education and experience to successfully perform the duties of the position
  • Ability to successfully pass a background
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends during surge periods
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Benefits Professional (CBP), SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now
  • Experience working in HRIS applications.
  • Understanding of FMLA, ADA and other applicable federal and state laws
