Clinic locations: Downtown Atlanta, Georgia.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Manager, Behavioral Health Services, the Behavioral Health Specialist, Sr (Licensed) performs psychosocial assessments and treatment planning/ monitoring.

Lead person for Decatur Behavorial Health Staff. Job duties include approving Kronos timekeeping on a biweekly bases and serve as point of contact to assist with any unscheduled BH needs of clinic.

Provides counseling, therapy, and education to patients seeking ongoing behavioral health services as well as behavioral health consultation to improve psychosocial function. Performs commitment determinations and/or executes orders of involuntary commitments. Provides face-to-face linkage to appropriately trained staff and ongoing case management services. Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team and communicates effectively with members to address the patient’s concerns. Provide comprehensive assessment and diagnosis of behavioral health clients. Evaluate crisis situations and apply appropriate interventions. Actively participates in meetings that support Mercy Care’s integrated health care model to provide comprehensive care for clients. Assist in the detection of “at risk” patients and development of plans to prevent further psychological or physical deterioration. Assist the primary care team in developing care management processes such as the use of guidelines, disease management techniques, case management, and patient education to improve self-management of chronic disease. Provide assessment, consultation, and brief intervention for psychological/psychiatric problems and/or disorders. Educate patients, families, and staff on care, prevention, and treatment enhancement techniques. Participates in health fairs or community events on weekends as requested 3-4 times a year. Duties may include: Providing and monitoring clinical guidance to the site's behavioral health services. Acting as a clinical lead for the clinical managers and works collaboratively with the Behavioral Health Manager to ensure clinic coverage, assist with grant management requirements.

*Provides patient care and/ or support activities appropriate to ages served; primarily adults ages 18-65 or geriatric patients ages over 65. May also include care for infant age 0-1 year, child ages 1-12 years or adolescent ages 13-17 years.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS : Master’s degree in human services or related field with LPC, LMFT, or LCSW licensure.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: At least five years of experience working in a MH/SA recovery services environment, have experience working with people with both mental illness and substance abuse/dependence, as well as working in a multi-disciplinary setting. Experience performing psychosocial assessments with excellent documentation skills.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must be able to build strong, cohesive, outcomes-focused working relationships with individuals who are working on improving psychosocial function and increasing their current knowledge to enhance their lifestyle. Provide ongoing comprehensive psychosocial assessments. Able to effectively establish and coordinate liaisons/working relationships with other community agencies to facilitate consumer linkages to required community resources. Must be able to initiate and maintain cooperative working relationship with members of the community. Must be able to make decisions both independently and with an interdisciplinary health, educational and social services team. Must be able to maintain appropriate professional and personal boundaries and a positive, healthy role model for clients and colleagues. Racial and cultural sensitivity is essential. Must also be flexible and manage change in the work environment positively and as a model to other team members. Some roles may require applicant to possess organizational and leadership skills, including supervision of staff, responsibility for project documentation, monitoring and reporting.
