PURPOSE:
Clifford Beers is seeking an experienced Behavior Technician with ABA knowledge/experience for the Marne Street Clinic which focuses on individuals with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Behavior Technician (BT) will provide a blend of services to families and clients diagnosed with language, communication, behavioral, autism, intellectual and developmental disorders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential functions of this position, include, but are not limited to:
Clinical Tasks

  • Establishes and maintains therapeutic relationship with client by pairing self as a reinforcing entity and building the value for the client of social interaction
  • Tailor interactions to fit the tone, volume, and appropriate language for the client’s age and environment
  • Prompts safe and socially acceptable replacement behaviors in order to build a repertoire of communication, social interaction, and problem solving skills
  • Fades prompts appropriately to promote both successful and independent responding
  • Increases the frequency or duration of safe and appropriate replacement behaviors by providing access to reinforcers (desired items/actions, attention or removal of demands/aversive situations)
  • Plan for sessions, prepare materials, as needed, and follow all program plans and treatment plans for clients they are working with while utilizing sound judgment and seeking out appropriate consultation
  • Collaborates with family and treatment team members to provide treatment effectively and without disruption to the environment or other individuals in the environment
  • Educate parents on reinforcement and early intervention information in collaboration with the BCBA.
  • Educates all those involved about the role of ABA based interventions and the BT, and functions with boundaries of the BT role in providing treatment

Content Management

  • Works with Assessment Team to ensure complete assessments, including sitting in on assessments to record data
  • Accurately collects behavior data including: A-B-C, count, frequency, duration, latency, inter-response time, event, and interval based recording
  • Support ABA team through creation of needed ABA supplies (including but not limited to communication boards and PEC systems, labeling, laminating, etc)
  • Graphs Program data across behavioral techs as needed
  • Creates and keeps current Assessment Kits for BCBA assessments

Collaboration and teamwork

  • Collaborate and participate in an interdisciplinary team related to client care; in conjunction with the Clinic’s larger team
  • Regular participation in staff meetings, team meetings, case conferences, and grand rounds as a vital team member of the Clinic
  • Perform related and appropriate duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:*

  • Degree in a behavioral health field preferred.
  • Current enrollment in BCBA, LCSW, Special Education, OT, or SLP graduate program a plus.
  • Registered Behavior Technician Certificate a plus.
  • Experience working in an in-home setting.
  • Experience working with individuals with ASD, ID or DD
  • Experience with ABA.
  • Experience running trials, taking data, informing plans.

  • This role may require travel throughout the State of Connecticut.
