- Identify individual academic, attendance, behavioral, emotional, and/or communication patterns which interfere with student learning.
- Identify environmental conditions which impact student behavior; make recommendations for adaptations or change.
- Serve as a ready resource to students to provide interventions that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and behavior management; serve as liaison between home and school.
- Assist with team approach (student, family, teachers, specialist, and principal) to assess appropriate intervention).
- Visit with identified students to identify suitable options and help resolve challenges.
- Assist students with being proactive in making choices that will lead to their success.
- Develop a positive relationship between students/families and school.
- Work as part of the school team to support a safe and orderly environment.
- Assist in monitoring hallways and outside classroom areas, including buses to/from school.
- Make telephone calls to parents and home visits if necessary.
- Participate with the school team in reviewing student data on attendance, suspensions, and expulsions.
- Ensure areas of the facility before, during, and after the school day are monitored with regard to individual safety.
- Others duties as assigned by building administration.
- Experience working in a school setting, criminal justice, social work, or with K-12 students.
- Must be able to develop rapport with students, parents, teachers and administrators in attempting to meet the social, behavioral, and affective needs of students.
- Ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Bilingual Spanish skills preferred

WORK SCHEDULE:
180 school days; Monday - Friday
Approximate (depending on building) 7:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
Paid through EDUStaff (non-union position)
SUMMARY: To work with groups and individual students in hallways, lunchrooms, classrooms, buses, and other areas identified by building administrators. Provide support to the principal, social worker staff, parents, and students in strategies within the school building, buses, school grounds, and home through coaching using positive behavioral supports, classroom/school behavior management, reinforcement and redirection strategies.

Note: Pursuant to PA 131, the selected candidate must receive clearance, from the Michigan State Police Department, prior to the offer of employment. The candidate is responsible for the background check fee.
