A Beacon Hill family is looking for a nanny for their two children who are 6 (girl) and 8 (boy) for the hours after school, though if the provider is looking for more hours, they can happily accommodate up to 30 hours and would then include family assistant duties. Both children love spending time with their friends after school at the park near home and school. They both enjoy creative projects, such as drawing/coloring, painting, making collages or paper objects, building forts and block structures, reading, and imaginative play with each other. This family believes in respect for all people, which is achieved through listening to others and developing empathy. They are engaged in organizations and a church community that focuses on climate and social justice topics. They believe all people have a role in helping each other on our journey through the world in some way.

ABOUT THE NANNY: They would love a nanny who is reliable, patient, firm yet kind, creative, and communicates comfortably with them. Their son has a diagnosis of Sensory Processing Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorder. These conditions are often invisible to others, especially at school where he appears to excel. He has difficulty with loud/sudden sounds, some textures, and some gross motor coordination. He also internalizes a lot of stress from the school environment that displaces to the home setting and can show up as many behaviors, many of which are not disruptive, but occasionally he has bursts of aggression (yelling, defiance, throwing small objects) when faced with frustration or when he unexpectedly is asked to transition away from a preferred activity. He responds best to caregivers who recognize these difficulties and can have the patience and confidence to allow him a little extra time, space, and flexibility to transition on a gentler timeline whenever possible. A caregiver experienced with these similar behaviors, or who is open to collaborating on approaches to support him in working through these difficult moments would be ideal.

HOURS: Essential need is to be with children from school pick-up at 2:20p (Wednesdays at 1:20p) until 6p (5:30p on Wednesdays). The family is happy to provide up to a total of 30 guaranteed hours of childcare/household support with additional agreed-upon household support tasks (such as meal prep, shopping, pet support, or child-related cleaning/tidying tasks).

DAYS: Monday through Thursday

START DATE: As soon as the right candidate is available

QUALIFICATIONS:

-Clean background check

-CPR/First Aid certified and or willing to do so before the start date

-Clean driving record

-Non-smoking, vaping, or illegal drugs

-Willing to stay up-to-date on vaccines including the influenza and Covid vaccinations

-2 years min experience with references

-Always maintain good, open, and honest communication with parents

-Will be attentive to children's needs
