JOB OVERVIEW
As a Banquet Captain you play an important role to the overall success of events. You will be overseeing all staff during each event and one of their main contact people along with the Director of Banquets. You will prepare and execute banquet activities with a goal of ensuring that guests have a favorable event experience. You will report directly to the Director of Banquets and help supervise Banquet Set-Up, Banquet Servers, and Banquet Bartenders.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Assist with setup of the banquet area. This includes but is not limited to table setup, buffet setup, beverage setup, décor, and more.
  • Lead your team by example
  • Have a “can do” attitude
  • Responsible for a clean and presentable service of food
  • Serve food and beverages to guests
  • Take guests food and beverage orders in a timely matter
  • Relay food orders to the Banquet Chef
  • Clearing of empty plates, glasses, and silverware throughout the event
  • Respond to all requests and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Be creative and flexible with meeting special requests.
  • Note changes or additions to banquet event orders and report them to the Director of Banquets
  • Maintain order and cleanliness in storage areas including securing A/V equipment.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle last-minute client needs with ease.
  • Support the goals of Pelican Lakes through teamwork and collaboration with all departments
  • Troubleshoot problems with ease, such as wind, rain, electrical issues, boat issues, etc.
  • Willing to work long hours and be the driving force of your team
  • You will be in direct communication with the Director of Banquets and the Banquet Chef
  • Able to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Guide your staff and make cuts accordingly
  • Drive the golf cart & trailer
  • Assist with post event cleanup, inventory, food storage and tear down

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
  • Must be 21 years old
  • Previous banquet experience or high-volume restaurant experience
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Managing experience preferred
  • Must be able to stand and walk for several hours at a time and lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Must be punctual and have reliable transportation to work
  • TIPS certification
  • Knowledge of Point of Sales Systems
