Automotive Parts Counter Associate

Reports To: Parts Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Parts Counter Team Member is key in maintaining or creating customer satisfaction. This position helps retail/wholesale/internal parts customers and technicians with parts orders and special-order parts pick-up.

PAY PLAN - $17.00 per hour

Schedule: Tuesday through Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM. Saturday, 8 AM to 3 PM

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Greets customers at the parts counter window pleasantly and professionally.

Receives incoming phone calls from retail and wholesale customers.

Maintain parts shelf inventory

Stock parts when it comes in, and help keep the parts room clean and organized (trash, warranty parts, stock, and anything you think needs attention).

Help technicians with parts by following the parts processes and documentation on the RO and parts estimates. Aid technicians to deliver parts to them when they come in or if the part is in stock. At this time, you are in the shop to help retrieve warranty parts.

SOR parts keep up on helping the service writer get ahold of the customer.

Keep up on putting warranty parts in the correct bin.

Take deliveries when needed.

GOOD BETTER BEST: utilize all aftermarket sources when necessary. (O’Reilly, NAPA, Car Quest, Ken Smith, and Auto Zone if needed. We are on the O’Reilly’s Program now.)

If speaking with anyone on the phone on a part on the back of the RO write down the phone number and name of the person you talked with and an extension if they have one. This is to ensure proper follow-up is possible.

Keep up on gas receipts for submission to the accounting office

Keep up on Parts Trader and OPS Trax.

Work with department manager to stay abreast of new products, services offered, features and value, and price changes.

Complete all training as assigned and promptly.

Keep the work area neat and clean.

All other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have a valid driver's license
• Must be computer literate
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work/education
• Must be able to work on a day shift, Tuesday thru Saturday

PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Experience using Dealertrack software desired
• Ability to accurately gather and record information
• Automotive parts product knowledge desired
• Able to maintain a sense of professionalism and a professional appearance
• Ability to stand and move around for the entire shift if needed
• Present a positive attitude and relations towards customers and other team members

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The employee will be standing or sitting at the parts counter for up to 100% of the shift and be required to lift, push, or pull weights over 25 lbs. Duties will be performed indoors in an area not cooled or heated by the building’s systems.
