Job description

Join a fast-growing custom injection molding company and be an Automation Engineer! This role will serve as a support to the Molding and Assembly departments in establishing new setups and processes, troubleshooting and building equipment, as well as designing and building of items to promote efficient and economical utilization of personnel and equipment.


This position is based in Wilsonville, OR.


Responsibilities
:

  • Develops, maintains, and improves manufacturing methods.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Collaborates with engineering and sales staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Designs and fabricates automation equipment to support production and assembly requirements.
  • Provides cost estimates for fixtures to support production and assembly.
  • Partners with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • With previous experience in injection molding, designing area layouts and work cells, and/or manufacturing cost reduction.
  • Proficient with MRPII, spreadsheet, word processing, Pro/E, etc.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and part specifications
  • Ability to program and run CNC equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience with the following:
    • Injection mold design and window study techniques.
    • CAD systems.
    • Operation of fabrication equipment (mills, grinders, lathes, etc.).
    • Process Control technology involving pneumatics, hydraulics, and electronics.
    • PLC
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
