Position Description

Advertised Job Summary
Specifically, we seek applicants with a record of both applied ethnographic research and policy work which interrogates how work-related burdens (namely transient and uncertain lifestyles, discrimination and hazardous working conditions, including pesticide exposure and other occupational injuries) contribute to health disparities among Mexican/Latino migrant, seasonal farmworkers in the US South. Extensive ethnographic fieldwork experience working directly with Latino immigrant farmworkers is required. Professional policy experience serving on the National Advisory Council on Migrant Health is preferred. We are particularly interested in scholars who will complement departmental strengths in medical anthropology and the bioarchaeology of human health and health disparities, expand department offerings relevant to the Department’s Minor in Medical Anthropology, as well as build on universitywide strengths in global health and the College’s Minor in Medical Humanities. Applicants must have and maintain an active program of research and demonstrate a record of seeking and securing extramural funding. Candidates will be expected to teach large introductory undergraduate courses, and courses in their area of specialization, advise undergraduate majors, mentor graduate students, and participate in service activities.
