Our account managers are much more than just sales reps – they are customer and category experts who help clients craft their publishing programs (with both an at-large and customer-specific approach). They advise clients and customers alike on how to create and capitalize on marketplace trends, and share their knowledge and feedback throughout the entire publishing process, from the launch of titles to frontlist marketing to deep backlist opportunities.

Specific responsibilities include:


  • Crafting monthly presentations for the Barnes & Noble frontlist buyers
  • Monitoring orders and sales and maximizing opportunities
  • Communicating marketplace updates and opportunities to clients and sales managers
  • Actively participating in all publisher meetings
  • Engaging in regular sales analysis
  • Presenting lead titles to the Barnes & Noble merchandising team on a seasonal basis


Essential Qualifications/Abilities:


  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to regularly visit Barnes & Noble’s home office and meet with B&N colleagues in NYC with minimal notice/on an ad hoc basis
  • 3 years of sales experience
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • The ability to adapt and work well under pressure
  • Dynamic analytical skills with the ability to innovate
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint


The salary for the Associate position is $60,000 and the salary range for the Manager level is $67,000 - $70,000.


Penguin Random House job postings include a good faith compensation range for each open position. The salary range listed is specific to each particular open position and takes into account various factors including the specifics of the individual role, and candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
