JOB OPPORTUNITY – Associate Engineer, Engineer or Project Engineer- Capital or Development Focus

The Alderwood Water & Wastewater District (AWWD) seeks qualified water and wastewater utility engineers to perform core roles in planning and managing the design and construction of capital infrastructure projects for a regional water and wastewater utility.

AWWD’s 45-square mile service area covers portions of multiple jurisdictions and is a critical link between the county’s major water source (City of Everett), direct customers, and a group of retail water providers. The District also routes sewage from multiple jurisdictions to King County’s Brightwater sewage treatment plant. A desire to participate and contribute in the development and renewal of this critical public service is foundational to a career at AWWD.

The Engineering & Development Department is hiring three (3) new full-time team members to work on projects that include:

· Sewer main and water main design and construction

· Wastewater treatment plant upgrades

· Water and wastewater system modeling & flow monitoring

· Infrastructure condition assessment planning and analysis

· Telemetry & SCADA system design & upgrade

· Pump and lift station planning, design and construction.

The Engineering & Development Department is hiring one (1) new full-time team member that will provide engineering and technical support to the workgroup. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the engineering and construction elements of development. Knowledge and experience with land use planning as well as the operation and maintenance of a water utility is highly desirable. This role will best be served by a knowledgeable professional with project management experience who is a team builder and practices effective leadership and mentorship.

The design and project management focus of our engineer positions are critical to support the resiliency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of AWWD’s infrastructure. These positions will work closely with the Utility Program Manager to implement infrastructure growth and renewal projects.

The ideal candidates will have a strong background in water utility engineering and project management. Knowledge of and experience with the operation and maintenance of a water utility is highly desirable. Positions will be filled at the skill level and experience of the applicant. Successful candidates will have excellent communication skills and will regularly interact with a wide variety of our customers, consultants and partners, including neighboring city and district staff and managers, county and state staff, as well as AWWD’s own management and Board.

Annual Salary:

Project Engineer: $97,260-$130,380

Engineer: $84,960-$113,880

Associate Engineer: $74,200-$99,480

Requirements:

Project Engineer: Four years of progressively responsible civil (or related) engineering experience as a licensed Professional Engineer.

Engineer: Three years of civil (or related) engineering experience and a Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Associate Engineer: Ability to earn Washington State Engineer-in-Training certificate within six months and desired one year of engineering experience.
