Job Summary:


The Rollins College Department of Religious & Spiritual Life is seeking an Associate Director to join their team! Reporting to the Dean of Religious Life, the Associate Director of Religious Life (ADRL) is responsible for enhancing the diverse religious and spiritual life of the Rollins College community. The ADRL serves as a resource for members of the Rollins community, nurtures the spiritual and religious growth of students, staff, and faculty, and provides leadership and opportunities for multi-faith engagement and understanding. The ADRL will assist the Dean of Religious Life in advising religious and spiritual groups in their campus program planning and implementation. This position is grounded in the support of students with the goal of student success.

Additionally, the ADRL works to grow and enhance the Jewish community at Rollins. This role promotes a vibrant Jewish religious and cultural life on campus, guides students as they explore their diverse Jewish identities, provides students with the tools and resources to create exciting and innovative programming and service opportunities, promotes interfaith and cross-cultural understanding, and cooperates with the Office of Admissions in recruiting Jewish students and relating to alumni, donors, and external constituencies as appropriate.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide appropriate, ethical spiritual care to students, faculty, and staff from a variety of religious, spiritual, and secular backgrounds.
  • Work collaboratively to help organize and lead the multi-faith programming initiatives for the Office of Religious Life.
  • Support students in response to discrimination and bias incidents.
  • Build relationships with the Jewish students at Rollins. Work directly with Hillel, engaging them in meaningful conversations and offering them a variety of Jewish experiences.
  • Support student leaders in cultivating peer relationships and in developing exciting and innovative social, cultural, educational, community service, and religious/spiritual programs that energize Jewish life on campus.
  • Work closely with the Admissions staff to help build and maintain a strong Jewish population at Rollins.
  • Serve as liaison for Jewish life by working with other offices including the Jewish Studies Program, CICI, CLCE, Residential Life, CCLP, etc. to ensure students are provided a variety of opportunities and their needs are being met.
  • Work with the Office of Institutional Advancement to develop funding pipeline for Jewish Life programming.
  • Build personal relationships and institutional partnerships with national and global Jewish organizations to provide enriching experiences and professional opportunities for students.
  • Recruit for Hillel immersion journeys, including Taglit-Birthright Israel trips and Alternative Student Break experiences, AIPAC Policy Conference, JNF conventions and other similar programs.
  • Oversee the budget for Jewish Life programming on campus (in consultation with the Dean of Religious Life).
  • Encourage and promote a pluralistic religious and cultural expression through holiday and Shabbat observances.
  • Advise/provide guidance to non-Jewish religious student clubs/groups as needed. Collaborate with other religious life advisors in interreligious programs, community service and social justice outreach.
  • Be accessible, visible, and present for relevant College events; attend staff/student-planned community activities and educational events as appropriate.
  • Provide connection and outreach to the local religious community and to the other parts of the community, including organizations working for the common good.

Minimum
Qualifications
& Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Minimum 3-4 years experience working with college aged youth in the areas of Jewish education, interfaith relationships and dialogue, Israel and community development.
  • Intentionally open and thoughtful in working with those of faiths other than their own, those who claim no faith tradition, and those who are questioning.
  • Posses a high degree of interpersonal and communication skills, and a sensitivity to people of all religious, secular, and spiritual identities.
  • Passion for working directly with students of diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and religious backgrounds, as well as engaging and partnering formally and informally with local spiritual leaders.
  • Commitment and knowledge of pluralistic Jewish ideas, people, and practices.
  • Experience in administration, programming, fundraising, and community leadership. Strong computer skills including web design and social media.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and have a sense of entrepreneurship.
  • Creative problem-solving techniques and a great sense of humor.
  • Strong self-motivated program development and event planning skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in communication, supervision, and facilitation.
  • Ability to effectively mentor students and advise student groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to inclusively and proactively develop and sustain positive, collaborative, and collegial relationships with faculty, staff, and students.

Preferred
Qualifications:
  • Masters degree.

Work Environment:
  • Campus-based position working in an office environment.
  • Must be willing to work occasional nights and weekends.
