Job Summary

The Associate Supply Chain Transportation Specialist arranges transportation services for equipment, materials, mobile substations, and oil to Dominion offices, job sites, and substations. You will respond to a steady flow of requests via phone and email from the field and works with field personnel to coordinate deliveries and pick-ups. You will work with the warehouse operations team to maximize trailer space utilization and then designs an optimized delivery schedule for efficient routing.



The person selected for this role will have a rotating on call schedule to receive emergency requests that occur after their normal working hours. They then coordinate the call out of warehouse employees and arrange the transportation of the material.

Other duties include:

  • Managing the inventory of oil by scheduling deliveries of new oil
  • Obtaining over dimensional and overweight hauling permits as required by law
  • Dispatching the company and contract drivers which can exceed 20 drivers in a day
  • Monitoring the company drivers' hours of service to avoid a DOT violation.
  • Processing of employee timecards
  • Invoice processing
  • Ordering supplies needed to sustain the operation.
  • Providing storm support during major events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:

  • 0-2 years of related experience.
  • General knowledge material and service delivery fulfillment process.
  • Dispatch, field requests, create plans and schedule.
  • General knowledge of procurement practices, procedures, and policies.
  • Hazmat DOT knowledge.
  • Good verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Effective influence, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
  • Value, cost analysis, and general analytical skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to anticipate, understand, and respond to customer needs.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to use sound business judgment.

The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications. Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above.

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
Bachelor
Preferred Disciplines: Business, Business Administration
