Villa Bellezza seeks an assistant winemaker to join our winemaking team.

We are an innovative winery in Pepin, Wisconsin making outstanding wines with locally-grown grapes. We are nearly 100% direct-to-consumer with a wine sales room, a restaurant, and several tasting and event facilities. Wine is at the center of our business and is complemented by our hospitality activities. We make a full range of wines.

We have recently constructed a new red wine production facility consisting of a barrel room for 750 barrels, fermentation room, crush pad, and wine club room. This is the keystone to our seven year program to make outstanding red wine from Marquette, Marechal Foch, and Frontenac grapes.

Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility: to produce quality wine on a schedule that meets sales needs at reasonable cost
• Work with winemaker to set priorities, schedule tasks, and prepare work orders for winery activities
• Day-to-day operation of winery
• Maintaining accurate records of winery activities using Vintrace
• Laboratory Operation using Oenofoss and other instruments
• Purchase of grapes
• Testing of grapes for harvesting
• Harvest Operations for both estate-grown grapes and purchased grapes
• Participate in blending and final winemaking

Qualifications

• Experience with full cycle of winemaking processes for red wines, white wines and sparkling wines.
• Experience with Vintrace or other wine production software
• Experience operating a forklift
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and do physically demanding work
• Experience in pesticide application.
• Desire to learn new things
• US work authorization required
