  • Applicants must demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a socially and economically diverse student population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experience.
  • A strong candidate will have a deep understanding of educational leadership and organizations and bridge novel theories with methods to address compelling questions that address educational change and transformation in a diverse society.
  • The candidate should demonstrate the ability to teach, mentor, and support master and doctoral-level students who are practitioners.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a record or trajectory of teaching excellence, of published research commensurate with years of experience, and the ability to develop and sustain a research program that will lead to original, peer-reviewed publications.
  • Candidates must be able to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with departmental colleagues and in an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience in PreK-12 and/or higher education is highly desirable.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with relevant experience in the educational leadership and administration field.
  • Expertise and experience that contributes to understanding higher education through a critical lens.
  • Experience as a higher education and/or as PK-20 leader, including in instructional leadership, community leadership, and/or curricular leadership in postsecondary settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide aspiring postsecondary constituents into interrogating their individual biases and larger systemic inequities in school systems.
  • Knowledge of disciplinary trends in the field of higher education leadership regarding issues that center race, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, immigration, and historically underserved BIPOC communities.
  • Preference will be given to those whose professional experience, community engagement, and personal background have facilitated their understanding of and ability to better serve students from traditionally underrepresented communities.
  • Faculty are expected to have an inclusive approach to mentoring and advising that incorporates working with women and underrepresented undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Experience developing and teaching graduate and undergraduate level courses online, in-person, and hybrid.
  • Demonstrated ability to examine and develop one’s instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support historically underserved populations.
