The School District of Washington is looking for an Assistant Principal for South Point Elementary School. This is an eleven month position beginning July 1, 2023. It is full-time, benefit eligible, and PSRS eligible. The starting pay range depending on experience is between $55,575.00 and $69,746.69. POSITION SUMMARY
(Primary purpose of job)

The Assistant Principal is responsible for instructional leadership, student and staff supervision, and the daily operations of the building under the direction of the principal. The position includes responsibilities associated with the regular school day, extra-curricular activities, parent and public relations. This position is an 11 month position.


SPHERE AND SCOPE OF INFLUENCE
(Supervisory scope, district impact and budgetary responsibility)

Under the direction of the Principal, the Assistant Principal has direct supervision responsibilities related to students and staff, consistent communication with students, staff, and parents, and is a member of the District administrative team. The Assistant Principal is responsible for assisting with the implementation of the District strategic plan with respect to building assigned, as well as improvement planning efforts specific to special projects and initiatives.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES
(Major duties which the position exists to perform)

  • Evaluation of certified and support staff (with knowledge of the MU Network for Education Effectiveness model preferred) as assigned.
  • Support and promote strong instructional practices in a 1:1 technological environment.
  • Assist with professional development activities, curriculum development, assessment planning, data collection/analysis, operational procedures, discipline efforts, safety plans, and public relations.
  • Assist with leadership and support a culture of learning including supporting professional learning communities and growth efforts among all staff.
  • Support and positively influence the vision and mission of the District including research, initiatives, and focus groups.
  • Facilitate the implementation of individual plans as it relates to IDEA and/or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, as well as function as an LEA and/or establish operational processes to work with these plans within the building
  • Resolve complex issues related to student, staff, parent, and public concerns.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
(Minimum educational requirements, licenses, skills and experience required as well as preferred options)

Master degree or higher with major in educational administration/leadership

Prior leadership experience preferred

The Assistant Principal can expect to conduct presentations to multiple audiences, solve complex problems, produce professional written communication, read and analyze professional and technical information, keep information confidential when required by law, supervise students in school and at District sponsored events, and respond to unexpected situations.


PHYSICAL RELATED REQUIREMENTS

The candidate should be able to move in and around the classroom, building, District buildings, and campus locations. The candidate may be required to lift up to 50lbs. and maintain consistent attendance in accordance with the attendance policy unless otherwise required by law. General functioning such as the ability to maintain confidentiality, communicate clearly both orally and in writing, utilize District resources including District issued technology and meeting multiple demands from people while interacting with students, staff, and the public are required to fulfill the essential job duties.
