JOB TITLE: Operator Assistant
STATUS: Non-Exempt
HOURS: Full Time
LOCATION: Mermentau, LA
DEPARTMENT: Operations
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
To assist in the production and packaging of high-quality and safe SRB products by means of proper extrusion of rice bran and maintenance and sanitation of production equipment. Also responsible for warehouse duties including palletizing and forklift operation. Responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary production environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working under the direction of Extruder Operators to closely monitor the extruders and extrusion process to ensure proper stabilization of the product.
- Safe, effective, and efficient operation of packaging equipment and palletizing of packaged products.
- Accurate recording of information and data into the daily production and packaging logs.
- Follow Food Safety Plan put in place by the QA department to ensure a high level of sanitation and food safety, including testing of PC and CCP equipment.
- Able to safely operate a forklift to move products within the warehouse.
- Assist with all warehouse duties including maintaining a neat and organized warehouse
- Assist with maintenance and sanitation of equipment.
- Follow and implement the facility sanitation plan and procedures including wet and dry cleaning.
- Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment.
- All other duties assigned by management.
- The company will provide training on all essential duties and responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Experience:
One year of experience in a food processing environment.
Minimum Required Education:
High School Degree or Equivalent
Required Job Skills:
Able to follow working procedures put in place by management. Knowledge of the facility’s food safety plan that includes food plant GMPs. Knowledge of safe operation of plant and packaging equipment. Able to effectively collect and label product samples as needed. Must be able to effectively perform dry and wet cleaning in the facility to ensure necessary sanitary requirements. Basic mechanical ability and troubleshooting skills. Able to disassemble and reassemble the equipment for sanitation and maintenance purposes. Able to accurately record data and inventory information. Good communication and teamwork skills. Dependable and reliable.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS, COURSES, OR OTHER TRAINING REQUIRED
- Forklift Certification
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Work in a plant production environment
- Regularly lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Able to work in hot/cold, dusty conditions.
Able to climb at least 50ft on vertical ladders

- Full Time (Shift Work)
- Must be able to work overtime and on weekends, occasionally on short notice.
- Cross-training of other duties may be required.
